This is AI industry propaganda, trying to paint the grassroots data center backlash as a Bad Guy Psyop.
***1 in 1000*** accounts banned posted SOME tweets about data centers (their tweets got ~no views) YET their headline is all about datacenters?
They even cropped out the view counts from the tweets, which would have showed these tweets got no views.
@tyler_johnston: "This seems to be the exact same account cluster covered in the OpenAI report. We already knew that posts had low engagement (the OpenAI investigators said that the tweets had as few as three views) but now we also know the anti-data center content was being posted by only 200 accounts in an operation consisting of 200,000 total accounts.
What were the others posting? It would be helpful to know. Until then I continue to see this as more of an attempt by the industry to spin research as advocacy (blaming data center opposition on China) rather than a sober diagnosis of a large/widespread problem. How common is it, after all, for X, upon discovering a bot network, to not just ban them but write a whole tweet about it? I assume this has happened for something like <0.01% of all bots they‘ve identified."
