seeing more american data companies trying to sell to chinese ai labs. feels like there’s an entire shadow market for this with very little oversight. we export-control compute and barely think about data. as post-training gets cheaper and valuable now, proprietary data becomes an increasingly strategic moat, and a dataset that directly accelerates cyberwarfare or defense capabilities should be treated as a national security asset imo.
