An S&P 500 index designed by Goldman Sachs to exclude AI-linked stocks is now outperforming the S&P 500 itself.
Because the S&P 500 is weighted by market value, its biggest AI-linked companies can have an outsized effect on the entire index. that was the reason, Goldman Sachs built SPXXAI without those AI names, so investors could separate the rest of the market's performance from the AI trade.
At launch, those exclusions removed roughly 45% of S&P 500 weight, i.e. shows how concentrated the benchmark had become around AI.
