I think Tobi is right here.
Model-specific optimization can make sense. But if every coding agent expects its own instruction files, skills directories and conventions, large teams end up maintaining multiple versions of the same repository context.
AGENTS.md should be the common baseline across tools, with provider-specific overrides only where they are actually necessary.
Codex already uses AGENTS.md. Gemini can be configured to use it. Claude Code should support it natively too. period.
